NSW prays for rain

People from across New South Wales will gather in churches today to pray for rain.

The president of the New South Wales Council of Churches, Chris Moroney, says he hopes today's day of prayer will draw people back to the fold, particularly in the bush where the drought has left its mark.

Many of our churches are having to downsize or even close because the population just isn't able to continue to contribute to the church and the church isn't able to provide the support and encouragement to the people in those areas," Mr Moroney said.
