131229 Incident and Response

  1. Officer either did not know the law or was igknowing it: 20ft from corner, Reg
  2. Officer created a law saying that city owns 5 feet from edge of payment which allows citizens to use it as they want. However, in mid-summer, these neighbors had me cited for not keeping the right-of-way upto ordinance. When I appealed the citation, no response was forth-coming.
  3. In effect, the officer was encouraging neighbors to park illegally and to destroy public right of property.
  4. Officer said I should go to city council to protest my neighbors parking to get special rulings. Excuse me, none of this would have happened if the laws on the books were enforced.
  5. Thanks to this officer--the fourth RPD LEO--the neighbors once again are encouraged to play the Bugs Bunny/Yosemite Sam "I dare you to cross this line."
  6. said get a curb, have city pay for it. When I said it would come out of pension money, he said, no. Well, hasn't he heard about Detroit and othe bankrupt cities reducing pensions of police, fire and teachers?
