Decimate the Veterans Administration

Based on my personal experience and on reading the headlines, the solution to V.A. problems is not the Wall Street approach of throwing money at the problem. Rather, heads rolling will motivate VA staffers to do their job.

Decimate is often misused as a synonym for devastate. Decimate means to punish 1/10 of the guilty parties per the Roman army killing 1/10 of a legion that had mutinied. Decimating the V.A. is needed per the following sequence until 1/10 of VA staffers have been dismissed without benefits or severance. Important to keep in mind is how everyone at the VA knew of the bookcooking.

  1. All employees who received performance bonuses with an obligation to repay the bonuses.

  2. All keyboardists.

  3. All patient reps, liasons and ombudsmen.

  4. All union reps with a de-certification of the union--it is not for the vets, but to run interference for poorly performing staffers.

  5. Longest employed staffers--they should have acted for the vets rather than for job-security and pensions.

  6. Retro progression of retired employees in the above classes.

The decimation should be 1% of VA employees per the above classes for ten months with new hirees smoothing the decimating transition.

Remove all propaganda about the V.A. serving the veterans. Rather, staffers view it as too big to fail so staffers feel save to do what they want for themselves.

If VA staffers protest, fire them all with a national emergency enlistment of all private healthcare providers and facilities giving priority treatment to Veterans until the VA hospitals can be re-staffed. If Reagan can fire all the air traffic controllers for the long-term good of air passengers so should Congress fire all VA staffers if they do a group strike, protests, sickout, etc.

When a person knows they will lose their job rather than a few days pay, then they will do their job better.

The problem is that many people at the VA got their jobs as a result of a member of Congress or staff calling the VA to encourage the hiring of a relative, friend or campaigner. Thus, the VA is straddled with freshmen Congressmen and nepotism.

The first people to be fired are those who personally mistreated me which can be gleaned from the letters.
